Kuni & Kristen's Ministry with JEMS

The Onishis moved to Nishinomiya, Japan, in 2016 and started a church in 2019. But unfortunately, during the pandemic in March 2021, before the church reached its 3rd anniversary, the church closed down when Kuni stepped down from a pastoral position. So now, the Onishis have moved to Tokyo to be a part of the community called Soma Tokyo. As they serve this church as members, they continue to invest in the community.

In 2023, through several years of challenging church planting experiences and the pandemic, God slowly gives the Onishis opportunities to serve, care for, and encourage Japanese pastors, their families, and ministers. Due to this pivotal moment, Kuni was led to start his Soul Care ministry called "Selah SoulCare" to serve Japanese pastors and minister's families to provide Spiritual Direction (https://www.selahsoulcare.net). Through God's divine appointment, the Onishis are part of starting a Soul Care-focused community called Shalom House to serve Japanese locals.
