About Us

We moved to Japan in 2015 after we volunteered in Tohoku, the area hit by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. While we were serving there several summers as short-term missions, we had confirmation of God’s calling to reach out to the people in Japan. We are currently serving in Kobe in the west part of Japan where Yumiko grew up, partnering with a bilingual church called Logos International Church.

Joseph serves by leading the Bible Study monthly and helping in the administration area while also caring for male members and newcomers. Yumiko leads women’s ministry, serves at the inner healing prayer ministry and cares for female members and newcomers. Our heart is for both Christian’s and not yet Christian’s spiritual growth so we try to spend time with people by doing discipleship and just being friends with them.

It takes time to deepen relationships with people. Often, the topic of religion or the Bible makes people cautious and nervous especially when they don’t know us well. However, God has opened ways for us to show tangible care and offer help to people who are in need physically, emotionally and spiritually. Joseph works at a container yard on weekdays and gets opportunities to talk with younger men. Yumiko works as a part time Japanese teacher, mostly helping other missionaries while also meeting women to reach out. We do a lot of listening to people we meet because we believe that is one thing they really look for. We would like to continually spend time with people, sharing God’s love and truth.
